Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10e: how are they different and which one should you buy?

The newest flagship phone models from Samsung, the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10e, are both incredible smartphones that have been designed to cater to two different subsectors of customers. The flagship S10 offers everything. It pulls out all the stops and offers a flashy smartphone with all the bells and whistles to give you the best possible experience that modern mobile technology can offer. The S10e, however, is a slightly more budget version with a smaller screen and some stripped back features.

Two great phones that are more similar than you’d think

As opposed to previous years, Samsung decided to do something different with its Galaxy S lineup upon its release. Alongside the release of its base flagship model (the S10) and the usual release of a slightly bigger and more expensive version with some slightly enhanced specs larger(the S10+), they also chose to go in the other direction, delivering a scaled-back model with some of the more high tech features omitted in order to provide a more affordable, sleeker version. The Samsung Galaxy S10e. When you put the two devices (the s10 and S10e) side by side and compare them, you’ve be surprised just how many of the flagship features the budget model retained while still being $150 dollars (Approximately £116) cheaper than the original S10.

So, let’s take a look at the things these phones have in common.

Both the S10e and S10 use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, boast incredible AMOLED displays, have a 10MP front-facing camera and have ultra-premium glass and aluminium casing that you can get in a variety of different colours. They also have space for a microSD card, have a standard headphone jack, fingerprint recognition and wireless power share.

Okay, so how are they different?

Despite being similar in many ways, the two do have some differences. For instance, the fingerprint scanner is the side ‘lock’ button on the S10e and the rear of the S10. The S10s have one extra 12MP rear camera and the S10 is slightly larger in size and has a curved screen, while the S10E does not.

So, which one should you buy?

If you’re okay with losing out on a few features, such as a third camera, slightly larger size and a curved screen, then the S10e is probably the model for you. Slightly smaller, streamlined and just as good as it’s big brother. If you’re more interested in having the latest technology and you want all the bells and whistles, then go for the original S10 or even the S10+
