Best Galaxy S10 Refurbished Deals – How To Buy

The Samsung Galaxy S10 is one of the most capable phones we've ever seen and really sets the bar above most of the competition.

It offers a triple camera with night mode, an HDR+ capable display and keeps up with the latest innovations in battery and fingerprint sensor tech. But are all of these just technology overkill? Let's find out...

Summary of contents
  1. Samsung Galaxy S10 - what's good:
  2. Wider shots, crisper images
  3. Wireless charging and reverse charging
  4. Clear display with integrated fingerprint sensor
  5. The Foned verdict

  7. Galaxy S10 price in the UK

Samsung Galaxy S10 - what's good:

  • 4K front camera and triple main camera
  • Wireless charging
  • Waterproof (IP68)
  • Dual SIM possible
  • Triple camera for wide-angle, standard and telephoto shots

As with its predecessor the Galaxy S9, this year's focus is again on the camera unit. Samsung has added 3 cameras to the S10 side by side - 2 cameras is no longer enough, apparently. The central wide-angle camera has 12 megapixels and a variable aperture up to f / 1.5. The telephoto camera comes with 2x optical zoom, 12 megapixels and a f / 2.4 aperture.

Unusual for the S range, is the ultra wide-angle camera with 16 megapixels and f / 2.2 aperture, because it covers a field of view of 123 degrees like the human eye, you can choose a larger image section.

The one downside that the Foned tester found with the cameras was the still-disappointing zoom. The iPhone X range is generally much better at it; the quality on this phone depreciates quickly whenever you use the zooming function.

Wider shots, crisper images

The wide and the telephoto camera lenses equally are equipped with an optical image stabiliser, with which ActionCam recordings are possible, and the built-in AI supports automatic scene selection. It also gives tips on how to choose a better frame shot, and also newly introduced is a special night mode that allows you to shoot in low light without using the flash. However this was tested at length and so far has produced mixed results.

The front camera is still there, gently recessed and with 10 megapixels at your disposal. This camera is really meant for taking selfies of course, and records 4K videos at 30 frames per second. In contrast to the Samsung Galaxy S10+, this cheaper S10 'regular' version dispenses with the second front camera — so there is sadly no picturesque bokeh effect possible.

Wireless charging and reverse charging

Energy is provided by a permanently-installed (i.e. non-removable) rechargeable battery with 3400 mAh and has been vastly improved in terms of capacity compared to the 3000 mAh battery in the predecessor, the S9.

For balance, the iPhone Xr is the nearest equivalent from Apple - and Foned reckons the Galaxy S10 beats it hands down.

On top of that, top marks for the S10 for its new feature called Reverse Wireless Charging. It not only charges wirelessly, but also charges Qi-enabled devices. If the phone battery only has 30% power, for example, it will switch off automatically.— thanks to fast-charging function you'd save 60-70% of your charging time with this.

Clear display with integrated fingerprint sensor

The curved, 6.1-inch diagonal OLED display is more colourful and rich in contrast to an liquid crystal display. Given the size, it's clear that this phone lies between his other stablemates - the Galaxy S10e (5.8 inches) and Galaxy S10+ (6.4 inches).

A huge benefit is the high brightness - now set at 1200 cd / m². This is far above what previous top models achieved (700 cd / m²). Even in strong sunlight, we found that it is very easy to read the screen contents, and — also new — for the S10 and S10+ as well is the fingerprint sensor is in the display, and not on the back. This works with ultrasound, which allows a clean capture of fingerprints.

Face recognition is another security feature; an iris scanner does not exist on the new models thankfully, after much controversy. Overall, the edges around the display are narrower than the predecessors.

The fact that the Samsung Galaxy S10 is a top-of-the-line model is shown by a quick glance at the performance data - combining the 8-core processor Exynos 9820 with 2.7 GHz clock rate and 8 GB of RAM. Because the chip was completely redesigned, this will most definitely have a positive impact on performance.

The internal memory has a capacity of either 128 GB or 512 GB and is expandable unlike the iPhone equivalent.  Furthermore, the S10 models come with LTE Cat.20 and fast WLANaxc.

The Foned Verdict

For the 10th anniversary of the Galaxy S series, the company has released a sophisticated, high-end smartphone.

The Infinity-O display integrates the camera into it very neatly, with no narrow black stripes above and is  also very bright. The company is at the forefront of HDR10 + screen support and the ultra-wide-angle camera, which allows you to select a very large image area. The repositioned fingerprint sensor works without applying much pressure.

Should I buy a Galaxy S10?

Compared to the predecessor, you can expect a decent performance boost. The model allows reverse charging and charges even rechargeable devices - so the answer is most definitely yes. As discussed above, we've found that the nearest equivalent is the iPhone XR, but the S10 beats it almost in every way. Huawei's flagship the P30 Pro might be worth a look, too.

Galaxy S10 price in the UK?

The cheapest price on contract is £22 a month currently with Vodafone. Compare deals on the Samsung Galaxy S10 from all the major networks, we have over 24,000 deals available.

The cheapest handset-only price is £499 currently although this will keep dropping as the newer models like the S10 5G come to market - make sure to compare prices between the two. If you need 5G and live in a 5G area in the UK (eg London) then definitely check that out - but for most people right now, 5G is not available.
