Best Galaxy S10 Lite Refurbished Deals – How To Buy

This phone has some great deals so make sure to compare Galaxy S10 Lite contract prices now. And it is so much more than just "an affordable S10 variant". In some ways it is vastly superior to the old flagship Galaxy S10, but at half the price at launch, and also comes with the image stabilisation - called "Super Steady OIS" - for the first time.

Shortly before the release of the new Galaxy S20 top model, Samsung introduced a new, inexpensive variant of its ex crown bearing smartphone, the Galaxy S10 and Galaxy S10 Plus from back in 2019: and here is is the Galaxy S10 Lite.

On first impression, and after a short practical test it’s clear that the Galaxy S10 Lite is more than just a stripped down version of the Galaxy S10 Plus. Here are the first findings from the hands-on test by Foned:

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite with Super Steady Cam

The back of the Galaxy S10 Lite shows the cameras including actionable optical image stabilisation (that Samsung is calling Super Steady OIS).

But hang on a minute - hasn't Samsung already launched an economy version of the S10 with the Samsung Galaxy S10e? That's true, but the Galaxy S10 has completely different strengths and weaknesses. In short, it's a different phone altogether.

While the S10e (display diagonal: 5.8 inches) is particularly nimble in your hand, the S10 Lite with its 6.7-inch display is a real giant, not only larger than the Galaxy S10 (6.1 inches), but also larger than the S10 Plus (6.4 inches). In practice, the Super AMOLED display impressed with strong contrasts and colours, despite a comparatively low screen resolution of Full HD+ (2400x1080 pixels), it looked pretty sharp.

The housing is made of plastic and does not appear to be as sleek-looking as that of the original S10 models, but the notch-free design is hard to beat at this price. In terms of looks - rather than feels - it's one of the best.

Super Steady: Action-ready cameras

The camera of the S10 Lite comes up with a world first: Samsung has further developed optical image stabilisation (OIS); asystem they've called "Super Steady OIS".

The aim of this is for the Galaxy S10 Lite to take blur-free shots even during action videos. While common optical image stabilisation can only compensate for fluctuations of up to 1 degree, the camera of the Galaxy S10 Lite should work with up to 3 degrees. Doesn't sound like much, but believe me, it's a game-changer.  On paper at least...

Sadly, it was not possible to judge whether this really worked in the practical test. But the camera equipment is also impressive. Instead of a dual camera like the S10e, there is a triple camera consisting of a 48-megapixel main camera (f / 2.0), an ultra-wide-angle (12-megapixel, f / 2.2) and a macro camera for close-ups (5 megapixels, f /2.4).

Crazy macro lenses

The macro lens can also be found in the A-Class models of the 2020 - the Galaxy A51 and the Galaxy A71.

Incidentally those are probably two contenders to the S10 Lite, and Samsung is convinced you need to buy the slightly better S range, so that've made some key changes. They've also left out a few features from the A range, as usual.

The selfie camera has a resolution of 32 megapixels, so Saumsung may well be using the same camera technology as the 2019 Samsung Galaxy A90 5G. There are two catches: the main camera is fainter than that of the S10. And a telephoto lens is missing (like the S10e).

Turbo speed processor

The Galaxy S10 Lite is also impressive in terms of raw speed, considering it's not a super-premium phone. This is the S10e replacement, don't forget.

In the practical test, the installed Android 10 + Samsung One UI 2.0 reacted extremely quickly.

No wonder - Samsung have installed the Snapdragon 855 here, which in the benchmark test in the OnePlus 7T or the Galaxy S10 5G showed a higher working speed than the normal Galaxy S10 with Exynos 9820 chip.

The battery equipment should be able to withstand the high speed: The S10 Lite boasts a large 4,500mAh battery, which can be recharged using 45-watt quick-charging technology (something that is not available on the A90). As per this review of the S10 Lite, they agreed it was a nice change to add a decent battery to a cheaper phone.

Galaxy S10 Lite: Colour & Sizes

The Galaxy S10 Lite will come in black, white and blue. The official colours are named “Prism Black”, “Prism White” and “Prism Blue” respectively in the UK. We hope to see more colours come to market after the launch phase.

How much does the Galaxy S10 Lite cost?

In the UK the S10 Lite costs £649.

That's £100 cheaper than the Galaxy S10e at launch, so Samsung are clearly listening to feedback, that their prices were getting to dear. That said, the S20 Ultra 5G is still a whopping £1300, and the Galaxy Fold is even more... So maybe they didn't pay too much attention after all.

Conclusion

The S10 Lite is ideal for anyone who is looking for a large and fast Android smartphone and, thanks to the new "Super Steady OIS", would like to shoot shake-free videos without a tripod.

The price of the Galaxy S10 Lite may seem steep when you consider that it has a plastic housing, but it’s a pretty robust phone that features technology that has passed the test of time. If you don’t want the latest technology that Samsung has to offer, but like to take good photos, then the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite will not disappoint.
